What exactly is ISO?
Read ahead for a short primer on ISO, and what these globally recognized standards mean to you!

ISO crestISO - the International Organization for Standardization is a worldwide non-governmental organization established in 1947. Its accreditation is accepted in over 110 countries. In recent years, ISO has become a familiar standard worldwide, for its promotion of standards and associated activities.

ISO standards are broken into a group of families, including ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. The 9000 series focuses on providing organizations with guidelines for efficient quality management systems. It is being implemented by thousands of manufacturing and service organizations.

Often, independent certification bodies are enlisted to assist an establishment with its certification and continued ISO registration. Northern Steel Ltd. turned to the Quality Certification Bureau of Edmonton, Alberta for their expertise in ISO certification policies and standards.

To maintain their registration as an ISO Certified organization, Northern Steel Ltd. commits to a relationship with the QCB and the standards which they outline. The QCB monitors their members through regular surveillance audits.
