Northern Steel Creation Chews Pulp It's called a Bale Eater. A unique development to Northern Steel, its job is to make pulp production more efficient. At times, pulp doesn't meet certain standards. That requires the product to be reprocessed. But reworking a defective pulp bale presented a number of problems. Often, our clients would send full size bails back for reproduction. But their machinery couldn't handle the bales in their original form, breaking down once when the stress was too great. Workers were also at risk from wires holding the pulp bales. Often, the wires would lead to nasty cuts for workers who handled the bales. And at times, employees had to be diverted from other tasks to help handle the bales. Not only was their safety at risk, extra person-power was directed to handle a problem that could have been dealt with easier. The staff at Northern Steel put their thinking caps on to come up with a custom-fabricated solution... the Bale Eater. This 550-pound machine has a number of key features. First, it automatically removes and coils bale wire for disposal... minimizing worker injury. Next, the device slices rejected bales into smaller, more manageable portions for re-manufacturing. The bale eater can adapt to cut a number of smaller sections to minimize the strain on pulp production equipment during the reprocessing cycle. Using the Bale Eater, our pulp clients experience less equipment breakdown, need fewer workers to deal with pulp remanufacturing, and minimize employee injury due to bale wire cuts. Northern Steel specializes in developing custom solutions like the Bale Eater for our clients. So If you've got a challenge, odds are we can handle it. >back |
