In 2000, Northern Steel Ltd. constructed a new facility to better serve our customers' needs. The new shop, with 32 foot under hook has recently been upgraded to 60 ton lifting capacity providing for a maximum shipping unit and a more economical project. The new fabrication & machining facility allows a greater flexibility for larger projects.

Major Equipment & Capacities

• Fabrication and machine shop with a combined total of 36,000 square foot workspace.
• Maximum under crane hook height of 32'.
• A lifting capacity range from 5 to 60 ton.
• Machining - we have a turning capacity of 14' in diameter and 40' in length.
• A horizontal boring mill with up to #5 capacity & vertical mill up to 72" swing capacity.
• We have NC and CNC milling centers.
• Plate rolling capacity of up to 5/8" x 10'.
• Angle rolling up to 4 x 4 x 3/8.
• Plasma cutting up to 2.5" capacity.
• Sub-arc welding to 1000 amp.
• An under crane assembly and load out measuring 100' x 200', with one 35 ton & two 15 ton overhead cranes x 32' hook height.

• Boiler & Pressure Vessel CSA-B51 ASME sec. VIII Div.1

• API 650 code for Storage Tanks.
